Jeffrey Todd Garlin (born June 5, 1962) is an American comedian and actor.
Jeff Greene appeared on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mort Meyers on Arrested Development for Fox and Netflix, and Murray Goldberg, the patriarch of the eponymous family in ABC's The Goldbergs, appeared. He has appeared in ParaNorman, Wall-E, Toy Story 3 and Safety Not Guaranteed, among other films, and he has hosted his own podcast on Earwolf since 2013.
Early life
Garlin was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Gene and Carole Garlin (née Crafton) Garlin. He grew up in Morton Grove, Illinois, where his father owned a plumbing supply company called Bilko, and his mother was active in community theater. Michael is Michael's younger brother. Garlin is a Jewish man who attended Hebrew school.
When Garlin saw Jimmy Durante perform in Chicago, he wanted to be a comedian from the age of eight. Garlin attended Melzer Elementary School in Morton Grove, Illinois. He loved playing sports at school but had to stop after being diagnosed with Wolff–Parkinson-White syndrome, a heart disease.
Garlin's father retired his supply company and the family moved to South Florida when he was in sixth grade. In 1980, he graduated from Nova High School in Davie, Florida. He attended Broward Community College, followed by an aborted stint at the University of Miami, where he first performed stand-up comedy.
Personal life
Garlin married Marla Beth Cahan on July 24, 1994. James (b.) and James (b.) are the couple's two sons. Duke (b. 1996) and Queen (b. 2000 was the year 2000. After 24 years of marriage, the couple declared their intention to divorce in September 2018. Garlin said in March 2020 that he and Cahan were at the end of their divorce proceedings.

Garlin had surgery in Oklahoma City to correct a heart disease called Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome, which is a defect in an accessory electrical conduction pathway in the heart that results in tachycardia. Garlin said he was one of the first (#72) of the procedure, which millions of people have since undergone.
He had a stroke at the age of 37 in February 2000, the beginning of filming on Curb Your Enthusiasm. He had a slurred voice during the early episodes of Season One that later improved. In addition to epilepsy and attention deficit disorder, he has type II diabetes, which he manages with diet and exercise. Garlin has written about his food issues and has publicly discussed his weight problems. Garlin said in a 2010 interview, "I think people think about fat people as having a lack of willpower because willpower has nothing to do with it." Before I started doing everything like a heroin addict, I didn't change my life. I haven't had sweets in nearly three years because I know if I have one cookie, like when an alcoholic has his first drink, I'm off to the races and back to the sugar traps.
Career
Garlin, 22, went back to Chicago in 1984 to pursue a stand-up comedy career. He appeared in The Second City, a comedy troupe. With Stephen Colbert, he worked in the box office.
Garlin was briefly roommates with Conan O'Brien, a Chicago humor writer, when he lived in Wrigleyville, Illinois, in the 1980s. Garlin said he is still close to O'Brien, and after O'Brien was kicked off as host of The Tonight Show in 2010 so that Jay Leno would return, he will not be a guest on the show again.
Comedians Denis Leary and Jon Stewart had Garlin to help with their specials. He performed as a stage manager for their productions and edited the scripts. He worked with Larry David in the same way.
