Cape Cod has been named as one of the world's best white shark hotspots, according to a three-year study. According to the researchers, the number of sharks soared over the years-long survey, indicating that the East Coast may be seeing a surge. The study, which was published in the Marine Ecology Progress Series journal on Thursday, found that 'Cape Cod is one of the world's biggest white shark hotspots.' According to the Ocearch Shark Tracker, it was the first ever white shark study in the North Atlantic Ocean, and although further conclusive studies aren't available, at least seven good whites were spotted off the popular beach as of Friday morning. With one frightening 400lb great white seen stalking the East Coast just weeks agoo, warmer months are also much more likely to see shark sightings due to higher ocean temperatures.

As a gargantuan 7-foot shark was seen menacingly approaching the shoreline, a heart-pounding video showed the time when a collective gasp swept through the crowd and terror ensued. Swimmers were seen desperately crawling out of the water as others on the shoreline were still on the sea sand hot-footed it far from the shoreline as an unmistakable dorsal fin rose out of the water and headed for the beach. Lifeguards, who were ever vigilant, wasted no time in raising the red flag as soon as they saw a 'dark shape', giving the beachgoers ample time to evacuate. To The Times, Chief Lifeguard David Simian described the terrifying incident: "Lifeguards took a boat out and saw it was a shark."
