Career
MTV offered him a job as a VJ on April 2, 1991, which Mohr turned down. Rather, Mohr hosted Lip Service on MTV, earning him a CableACE Award. He then appeared on Saturday Night Live in 1993–94 and 1994–95 seasons. Gasping for Airtime: Two Years in the Trenches of Saturday Night Live chronicles this traumatic period of his life, including his struggle with persistent panic attacks. Sarah Silverman, a SNL co-star, later credited him with saving his life by assisting him with the issue.
In the first season of The Jeff Foxworthy Show as Jeff Foxworthy's brother, Wayne, Mohr appeared on several occasions. In 1996, Mohr's first major film role was when he appeared in Conniving Bob Sugar, a sleazy sports agent in Jerry Maguire, and then in 1997, he appeared in Picture Perfect with Jennifer Aniston. Mohr produced, hosted, and was executive producer of NBC's Last Comic Standing reality television show in 2003 and 2004. The show aired for three seasons, but it was cancelled near the end of the third season due to poor ratings, and only to be revived later. Mohr had a frank protest against NBC about the show's cancellation and did not return for the show's fourth season in 2006. Mohr was replaced by new host Anthony Clark, but he was still listed as a consultant. Mohr appeared as a guest comedian on the season finale of Last Comic Standing 4. His recurring role on the television show Ghost Whisperer transitioned to a regular role.
