Javon DeAndre Hargrave (born February 7, 1993) is an American football nose tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL).
He played college football at South Carolina State.
He was selected in the third round with the 89th overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft.
College career
In 2012, Hargrave began attending South Carolina State. He had 45 tackles and 4.5 tackles for a loss as a freshman in 2012.
He made 12.5 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks in the first season.
After finishing with a total of 6 sacks against Bethune-Cookman on October 25, 2014, he tied an FCS record. In 2014, he came in third among the FCS with 16 firings as a junior, and was named as a first-team All-MEAC.

Professional career
Hargrave played in the 2016 East–West Shrine Game on January 23, 2016, raising his draft stock with a positive result. Hargrave was invited to the NFL Scout Combine and was involved in all workouts and positional drills. He stood on his combined numbers and only did positional drills at Pro Day in South Carolina. Representatives and scouts from 23 NFL franchises attended his Pro Day, and four defensive line coaches from the Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tennessee Titans also attended Hargrave, along with 14 other prospects. Despite giving him praise for his playmaking skills, quick footwork, athleticism, and endurance, analysts and journalists alike chastised him for his short arms, thin legs, a lack of confidence, and even called him a raw talent. Hargrave was predicted by several analysts as a third or fourth round pick at the end of the pre-draft process. NFLDraftScout.com rated him as the 11th best defensive tackle prospect in the draft.

In a 24-16 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Hargrave got off to a good start in his career and made his first tackle in his career. Since finishing atop the AFC North with an 11-5 record, the Pittsburgh Steelers earned a playoff spot. The Steelers defeated the Miami Dolphins 30-12 in the AFC Wildcard game on January 8, 2017. Hargrave played in his first career playoff game and made one tackle. The Steelers went on to face the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round. After winning the job over Daniel McCullers and Roy Philon, Hargrave returned as the starting nose tackle to begin the 2017 season. In the Steelers' 21-18 victory, he started the Pittsburgh Steelers' season-opener against the Cleveland Browns, making three solo tackles and firing DeShone Kizer. In a 30-9 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 8, 2017, Hargrave recorded a career-high ten combined tackles.
Hargrave had 4 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 pass defensed as the Steelers defeated Jacksonville 20-16, with Hargrave posting 4 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 pass defense. Hargrave was suffering from a pectoral injury that would eventually obligate him to miss week 1, but the Eagles' remaining 15 games were played on August 17th. Hargrave won by 2 sacks on Taysom Hill in week 14 against the Saints and recovered a fumble by Josh Sweat in the 24-21 victory. He finished the season with 15 games, 11 of which were played.

Hargrave began 16 games, but only made it to the final game, where all of the Eagles starters were suspended.
