Janet Wright (born in 1945) was a Genie and Gemini Award-winning English-born Canadian actress and theatre director.

Early life and education
Wright was born in Farnborough, Hampshire, England. Wright grew up as the eldest of four siblings (the others being Susan, John, and Anne) who have all performed in Canadian theatre.
Career
In 1974, Wright, Maria, and her sister Susan co-founded the Persephone Theatre company in Saskatoon. Brian Richmond, Wright's first husband, became the theatre's director. Wright later performed and directed more than 40 shows at the Vancouver Arts Club Theatre. She has appeared in numerous other live theatre productions in Canada, as well as at the Stratford Festival in Ontario. Her theatre performances lead to television and film appearances in Canada and the United States.
She and her sisters Anne and Susan Besoeurs performed in Les Belles-soeurs in 1991, receiving raves. She was the first woman to perform in King Lear's title role for the Canadian Stage in Toronto in 1995. Wright appeared in the film Bordertown Café, for which she was nominated for a best actress Genie Award in 1992. In 2003, she was named best supporting actress in a dramatic program or miniseries at the Gemini Awards for her role in Betrayed.
Emma Leroy appeared in the television series Corner Gas from 2004 to 2009. She received the prestigious Can Comedy Award in 2006 for a Especially Funny TV Female role. In 2007, the show also received a Gemini Award.
