James Trevor Oliver (born 27 May 1975) is a British chef and restaurateur.
He is known for his approachable cuisine, which has earned him to appear on many television shows and opened many restaurants. He was born and raised in Clavering, Essex, before being trained in London by Antonio Carluccio's Neal Street restaurant as a pastry chef.
He was noticed by Patricia Llewelln of Optomen while serving as a sous-chef at the River Café in 1999; and his television show, The Naked Chef, was broadcast on the BBC.

Early life
Oliver was born and raised in Clavering, Essex, where he was raised. Trevor and Sally Oliver, along with his parents, operated The Cricketers, a pub/restaurant where he enjoyed cooking in the kitchen with his parents. He has one sibling, sister Anne-Marie, and was educated at Newport Free Grammar School.
He left school at the age of 16 with two GCSE Art and Geology certificates and then moved on to Westminster Technical College, now Westminster Kingsway College. He later received a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in home economics from City & Guilds.
Personal life
Oliver married Juliette Norton, a former model and writer who is usually referred to as "Jools" in July 2000. They have five children, Poppy Honey Rosie (born 18 March 2002), Daisy Boo Pamela (born 10 April 2003), Petal Blossom Rainbow (born 3 April 2009), and River Rocket Blue Dallas (born 7 August 2016).
Oliver has severe dyslexia, and read his first book, Catching Fire, by American novelist Suzanne Collins (the second book in the three-book The Hunger Games series), at the age of 38.
Oliver said in 2015 that he had lost 2 stone (28 lb. 13 kg) in three months by changing his diet and getting enough sleep.

Career
Oliver's first job was as a pastry chef at Neal Street restaurant in Antonio Carluccio, where he first gained expertise in Italian cuisine and established a friendship with mentor Gennaro Contaldo; later in his career, Oliver hired Contaldo to help run his collection of high street restaurants, Jamie's Italian. As a sous-chef, Oliver moved to The River Café in Fulham. Since making an unscripted appearance in a documentary about the River Cafe, he was noticed by the BBC in 1997.
In 1999, his BBC show The Naked Chef debuted, and his cookbook became a hit in the United Kingdom. Oliver was invited to cook lunch for then-Prime Minister Tony Blair at ten Downing Street in the same year.
Oliver moved to Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, where his first series, Jamie's Kitchen, followed the opening of Fifteen Restaurant in London, which was the third in a series of Naked Chef shows (The Naked Chef, Return of the Naked Chef, and Happy Days with The Naked Chef). Barbecoa, a barbecued meat-based restaurant founded in 2011, was operated by Oliver and his colleague, American barbecue specialist Adam Perry Lang. On May 21, the corporation went bankrupt, with 22 of the 25 restaurants closing and 1,000 jobs lost. Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurants and Jamie Oliver's Diner at Gatwick Airport continued operations until they were sold to catering company SSP. Fifteen Cornwall and the Aramark catering services in the United States are all franchisees, with Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall at Watergate Bay, 61 overseas locations, and the catering services provided by Aramark in the United States all being operated by franchisees, so they were unaffected.
