Jaeden Wesley Lieberher (born January 4, 2003), also known as Jaeden Martell, is an American actor who appeared in the Stephen King's film adaptations as well as the 2019 film Knives Out.
Early life
Martell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 4, 2003, the son of Wes Lieberher, a Los Angeles-based executive chef, and Angela Teresa Martell. Chisun Martell, his maternal grandmother, is from Korea. He lived in South Philadelphia until the age of eight before moving to Los Angeles.
Career
Martell was largely credited under Lieberher's name in the first six years of his career. In 2019, he went back to Martell, his mother's maiden name.
Martell's first acting role was in a Hot Wheels commercial. Since then, he appeared in many other commercials, including Singapore, Moneysupermarket.com, Liberty Mutual, Hyundai (for the 2013 Super Bowl), Verizon Fios, and General Electric. In 2014's St. Vincent, where he appeared alongside Bill Murray, it was his first big feature film role. Murray later recommended Martell to Cameron Crowe for the director's 2015 film Aloha. In the 2017 film The Book of Henry, he played the title role. Martell has received more praise for his role as Bill Denbrough in the 2017 supernatural horror film It and its 2019 sequel It Chapter Two.
In 2019, Martell was also a part of Rian Johnson's ensemble cast in the murder-mystery film Knives Down. He appeared in March 2019 as Martell, a play based on the William Landay novel of the same name. In an Instagram Live interview with Teen Vogue on April 30, 2020, Martell revealed that he had joined Tunnels in the role of Grayson Mitchell, the younger sibling of a gun violence survivor. There is no set or confirmed release date for the film.
In September 2021, Martell portrayed Morty Smith in a series of promotional interstitials for Rick and Morty's two-part fifth season finale. He appeared on Netflix's Metal Lords in February 2021. Craig appeared in Mr. Harrigan's Phone, written and directed by John Lee Hancock, based on Stephen King's If It Bleeds short story.
