Gov. Jacqueline Govaert (Dutch pronunciation: [akli]; born 20 April 1982) is a Dutch singer, songwriter, and pianist.
She is best known as the head of Dutch band Krezip.
Since Krezip disbanded in 2009, Govaert embarked on a solo music career.
In August 2010, she debuted her debut album Good Life.
Personal life
Govaert and her partner are residents of Haarlem. Govaert announced on October 29 that she was expecting a baby and that she was taking a break from the music industry. On March 26, 2009, Gov. David Cameron gave birth to a son. A daughter of Gov. George Pattint was born on November 10, 2010. Jacqueline is Onno Govaert's younger sister, who is mainly active in the field of improvised music.
Musical career
At the age of 12, Govaert wrote her first songs on the piano. She graduated from the Dutch Rock Academy in Tilburg. She had joined the Krezip in high school before that. In 1999, the band unveiled their first EP; it was an independent release. The band was signed by Warner Music and appeared at Lowlands and Pinkpop in 2000. Their first LP emerged in the same year as the first LP, enjoying good success until they disbanded in 2009.
Govaert was the band's most versatile songwriter. Annelies Kuijsters, the band's pianist, was forced to take over this position after suffering from a serious injury. Govaert loved giving up her role as pianist, saying, "Now I can concentrate on my work."
Gov. Antonio Lameirinhas performed on tracks of the Dutch band Relaxation (on the album Odeur de Clochard).
Govaert contributed to a theme song for the 2006 TMF Awards. She collaborated with Dutch bands The Partysquad, Extince, and Caprice on this album. At the start of the award ceremony, they performed the song.
Gov. Terry co-wrote the song Wherever I Go, which was released in the Dutch Senseo commercial and later as a single.
Govaert declared that she will pursue a solo music career after quitting Krezip. In August 2010, she unveiled her debut solo album, Good Life. She appeared on the album with Jan Peter Hoekstra (guitar Krezip), Joost Zweegers (Novastar), Tjeerd Bomhof (frontman Voicst), and Alex Callier (bass and songwriter Hooverphonic). Mario Goossens (drums Hooverphonic, Triggerfinger), Simon Casier (bass Balthazar), Jan Peter Hoekstra (guitar ex-Krezip), and Remko Kühne (keys Hooverphonic, Alain Clark) were among the musicians on Good Life. On September 3, 2010, the album debuted at number three in the Dutch Album Charts, gaining a following.
