Jacob Scipio (born 10 January 1993) is a Guyanese-English actor and writer from London who is best known for his role as the Kerwhizzitor on Cbeebies. Jacob appeared in "We Die Young," Lior Geller's first feature film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, slated for release in 2019.
He appeared in Donovan Marsh's action thriller "Hunter Killer," starring Gary Oldman and Gerard Butler, which was released in 2018. CPO Productions was founded by Jacob in 2016. In that time, he wrote and appeared in "The Writer's Group" (2018) and "Cowboys & Angels" (2016), short films that premiered at the British Film Institute's Cannes Court Métrage (Disney) and White Teeth (Channel 4).
Education, early life and career
Scipio was born in Islington, London, England, and he has Indo-Guyanese and English roots. Scipio graduated from St. Michael's Church of England Primary School in Highgate and continued his studies at Fortismere School in Muswell Hill, seeking to complete his education at the University of Essex, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Literature.
Scipio's acting career began at the age of 9 months in an episode of Screen One's Bambino Mio, playing the adopted son of Julie Walters. He continued to act throughout his studies, appearing in a variety of lead roles in television, film, and theatre, including the Channel 4 adaptation of Zadie Smith's White Teeth, where he appeared in the roles of twin brothers "Millat" and "Magid" at age 9. He continued to perform, appearing in Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I as 'Prince Chulalongkorn' opposite Elaine Paige at the London Palladium.
Film career
In Bad Boys for Life, Scipio played Armando Aretas, the lead villain. He appeared in The Outpost, a true tale of American soldiers fighting in the Battle of Kamdesh, a few months later. Justin T. Gallegos, a US army Staff Sgt. who was given the Distinguished Service Cross.
In Last Looks and Without Remorse, Scipio appeared. Scipio was also cast in The Expendables 4, the upcoming 2022 film.
Television career
In the second series of As the Bell Rings, Scipio played Bip. In the popular CBeebies show Kerwhizz, where he hosts the show then discusses the race, he assumed the role. Scipio went on to star in the 2012 Life In My Shoes film Undefeated, a HIV awareness film that was shown in the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival. In the second series of BBC Three's hit comedy Some Girls, he appeared as 'Tyler Blaine'. 'Lewis' in CBBC's "Dixi" and "Thomas Hillmorton" a Shakespearean ghost in "Dani's Castle", which premiered on September 1, 2015.
Scipio was cast as Michael Vargas in the upcoming Netflix thriller series Pieces of Her, which is based on the Karin Slaughter novel of the same name in January 2021.
