Maria Izadora Ussher Calzado was born in the United States and named after American dancer Isadora Duncan. Lito Calzado, a choreographer and TV producer, was her father. Maria Antonia Ussher was her mother. Dash Calzado, the founder of Legit Misfitz, a 1990s Pinoy rap group, has an elder brother.
Calzado completed elementary education at School of the Holy Spirit and High School at Miriam College. At the University of Santo Tomas, she obtained her undergraduate degree in fine arts.

Calzado made his debut as a guest teen actor on the youth-oriented program Click, which culminated in further roles. Phoebe, the drama's antagonist, was cast in Kung Mawawala Ka. She appeared in her first protagonist role as Rosela in Te Amo, Maging Sino Ka Man, with Argentinean actor Segundo Cernadas. Calzado portrayed Amihan in the hit fantasy drama series Encantadia, starring Sunshine Dizon, Karylle, Diana Zubiri, and Dingdong Dantes; Calzado will keep reprising Amihan's role in the sequels Etheria: Anigina Kaharian ng Encantadia and Encantadia.
