For the sixth year in a row, boys close the gap on girls: Lead for female GCSE students over male counterparts narrows

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 24, 2023
It was revealed today that the lead enjoyed by girls over boys for GCSE passes in the United Kingdom has narrowed to its lowest level in more than 20 years. This year, 71.7 percent of female entries in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland increased to 4/C or higher than 64.9 percent for boys, a rise of 6.8 points. This is the lowest lead for girls at 4/C since at least 2000, and down from 6.9 points last year. The difference in 2019 was much larger, with 8.8 percent in favour of girls. This year, the advantage enjoyed by girls over boys in top grades has also eroded. This year, the percentage of female entries with a grade 7/A or above was 54.9 percent, which was 5.8 percentage points higher than male entries at 19.1 percent. This is the first lead held by girls for 14 years since 2009. Girls led boys by 7.4 percentage points last year, with girls at 30.0 percent and boys at 22.6 percent. In 2019, the lead was down 6.5 points for girls at 24.1 percent, compared to boys at 17.6 percent.

Since catering carts were not properly chilled, British Airways employees were forced to serve KFC to passengers, rendering the proposed in-flight meal unusable

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 26, 2023
A video of the cabin crew using tongs to hand out the fried chicken on Flight BA252, which took off from Turks and Caicos before landing in Nassau, Bahamas, while en route to London on Sunday. When in Nassau and sharing portions out in the Boeing 777's economy and business class cabins, the crew had to buy several buckets from the fast food giant. The passengers were facing another eight hours and 20 minutes of their 12-hour journey. According to reports, the action was taken because catering carts weren't properly chilled, implying that food that had been scheduled to be served outside during the trip was no longer usable.

Families who claim that depression drugs prompted their children to die, according to an agony of families

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 12, 2023
All grief can cause ambiguous emotions, but losing someone to suicide brings with a certain sense of agony, hopelessness, and unanswered questions. The knowledge that a prescription drug may be the cause can only exacerbate the pain, particularly if the drugs in question are antidepressants, which are supposed to discourage people from feeling suicidal. When Sam (right) died in January 2020, Tania (left) and Ian Morgan, both from Swansea, died of their 25-year-old son Sam (right). According to the researchers, his death was caused by an allergic reaction to an antidepressant. 'Sam had everything going for him,' says Tania, 57, a head tutor. He had a loyal girlfriend of six years, no financial worries, and a circle of fantastic people.' He was a junior trader for a multinational company and had a promising future ahead of him.'
