Huang Wenyong Life

Huang Wenyong (25 July 1952 – 20 April 2013) was a Malaysian-born former actor and former Chinese descent as local television and coworkers referred to him as "Ah Ge" (senior actor) due to his fame.

Huang died at the Singapore General Hospital around 5 p.m.

On April 20, 2013, GMT+8) died as a result of lymphoma at the age of 60.

Personal life

After living in Singapore for 27 years, Huang gained citizenship in October 2008. A son and a daughter were married in Huang's family, who had two children. He was a "lifelong devotee" of Buddhism.

Following Huang's appearance visibly ill during MediaCorp Channel 8's 30th Drama Anniversary Show, there was public worry. He denied that he had been suffering from stomach flu, which had been confirmed in September 2012. During this period, he was reported to have lost 6–7 kilograms in weight. Huang will also experience spikes of severe fever. Huang was diagnosed with lymphoma in November 2012 and had to go for chemotherapy. Huang "wanted to go through this by himself" so his illness was not announced to the general public until his death.

Early life and career

Before heading to Singapore, Huang worked as a Kuala Lumpur teacher. Huang returned to Singapore in the 1970s with just fifty dollars in hand. In 1981, he joined the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation. He is perhaps best known for his appearances in The Awakening, in which he played love interest in Xiang Yun's character, and The Seletar Robbery in 1982. Huang is also known for his appearance in Don't Worry, Be Happy (1996–2002) and its spin-off Lobang King as the stingy uncle in Chew's character Ah Bee. Huang was nominated for and named one of the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artists in the annual Star Awards from 1994 to 2013 before his death in 2013. Huang appeared in more than a hundred Chinese-language television shows in total. Huang performed on a handful of television sitcoms and also released two albums in addition to acting. He was an ambassador for Zell-V, an anti-ageing drug firm. He appeared on MediaCorp from the late 1970s to his death. He was one of the first few batches of locally trained actors to venture into the local Chinese drama, and was known as one of the "pioneers of local Chinese drama."
