Henry Ewan Golding (born 5 February 1987) is a Malaysian-English actor, model, and television host who has appeared on BBC's The Travel Show since 2014.
He is well-known for his film work, including Nick Young in Crazy Rich Asians and Sean Townsend in the romantic comedy Last Christmas, which were directed by Paul Feig.
Early life
Golding was born in Sarawak, Malaysia, in the district of Betong. Margaret Likan Golding, a native-born Sarawakian of indigenous Dayak Iban descent, is a native-born Sarawakian of indigenous Dayak Iban ancestry. Clive Golding, his father, is from the United Kingdom. The family lived in Terengganu for almost five years before moving to Surrey, England, when Henry was eight years old. He went to The Warwick School in Redhill, England. After working as a hairdresser on Sloane Street in London for a few years, he moved to Kuala Lumpur when he was 21 to pursue on-camera work.
Personal life
On New Year's Day 2011, Golding met Liv Lo, a Taiwanese television presenter and yoga instructor. They got engaged in 2015 and were married in August 2016 in Sarawak. Lyla and the couple live in Venice Beach, California, with their daughter Lyla.
Golding completed his bejalai, the Iban rite of passage into manhood—in Borneo's wilderness, filming the encounter over two months (and carrying the camera equipment himself) for the documentary series Surviving Borneo on Discovery Channel Asia. Career
After a worldwide casting call, Golding was confirmed in the film Crazy Rich Asians starring Constance Wu. He was first attracted to director Jon M. Chu's attention by accountant Lisa-Kim Ling Kuan, and Golding's charisma and personality earned him his first acting role. Crazy Rich Asians was released in the United States and Canada by Warner Bros. Pictures on August 15, 2018 – becoming the number one film in American and Canadian theaters over the weekend. Golding appeared in Paul Feig's thriller A Simple Favor, co-starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, as Sean, the husband of Lively's wife. After the success of Crazy Rich Asians and, in a lesser degree, A Simple Favor, Golding was cast opposite Emilia Clarke in the romantic comedy Last Christmas, directed by Feig (in their second collaboration). Filming began on November 26, 2018 and lasted until February 2019, and the film was released on November 8, 2019.
