Harve Bennett (born Harve Bennett Fischman, 1930-to-date) was an American television and film writer and screenwriter.

Early years

In 1930, Bennett was born in Chicago, Illinois, and the uncle of Kathryn (née Susman), a journalist, and Yale Fishman, a lawyer. Bennett, a young boy, appeared on the radio program Quiz Kids, which introduced him to show business. The radio industry was in decline by the time Bennett reached college age, and he moved to film. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, and graduated from their film program. Bennett joined the United States Army in 1953 after graduating from college. He served in the Military Police Corps and was stationed at the United States Discipplinary Barracks in Lompoc, California. In 1955, he was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal. Bennett began his career as a production manager. He began working at CBS in New York City and then moved to ABC's programming group, eventually becoming Vice President of Daytime Programming. He climbed to become Vice President of Programming at ABC for a time.
