Gustavo Scarpa Career

Club career

Scarpa was born in Hortolând, S. Paulo, and played for Guarani, Santos, Paulo, and Desportivo Brasil before joining Fluminense in 2012. On June 1, 2014, he made his first-team – and Série A – debut, arriving late in a 1–1 home draw against Internacional as a late substitute for Rafael Sóbis.

Scarpa was rarely used during the season and was loaned to Red Bull Brasil on December 22, 2014. In a 3–2 home draw against S. Bento, he scored his first senior goal for the latter team on February 11, netting his team's first goal.

Scarpa returned to Flu in May 2015 after being on the radio regularly. He began to play more often for the first team, which was led by Enderson Moreira, with often appearing as a left back. He scored his first Série A goal on July 9th, netting the game's first victory over Cruzeiro.

Scarpa renewed his deal until 2019 and ended the year as an undisputed starter on September 28. During the 2016 season, he scored eight goals in Brasileir's Brasileiro, including a double in a 2–2 away draw against Internacional; he was a mainstay in Fluminense's starting eleven; highlights included a double.

Scarpa began the 2017 season with four goals in six appearances, netting consecutive goals against Resende (1–0 home win), Portuguesa-RJ (3–0 away victory), Bangu (4–0 home victory) and Globo (5–2 away win); the former came from the halfway line. Richarlison was brought back to Halftime after suffering an ankle injury; it was later revealed that he would be out for two months. In the meantime, he has extended his deal until 2020.

Scarpa went back to court in 2017 to request that his Fluminense deal be cancelled due to a delay in payments on Fluminense's part. The court ruled with Scarpa that his deal with Fluminense was null and void on 11 January 2018.

Gustavo Scarpa signed a five-year deal with Palmeiras four days after the cancellation of his Fluminense contract. He had a blast with the Verdo, winning more than 200 appearances and seven trophies over the four years, including the league, the Copa do Brasil, and two Libertadores titles.

Scarpa had signed a free transfer to Nottingham Forest for three-and-a-half years, joining the newly promoted English club in January 2023.

International career

Scarpa was called up by Tite for a friendly against Colombia on January 19, 2017. In the Engenho's 1–0 victory, he made his complete international debut six days later, replacing Lucas Lima.

Forest has signed 43 players in three transfer windows since being promoted in 2022, and they understand the need to move players before they can bring others in. And breathe. The January transfer window is over, and managers now know exactly what they're doing for the remainder of the season. The mid-season window can be a little anti-climatic, with clubs choosing to stick with what they've got rather than risking any disruptions to their squad for the second half of the season. This wasn't the case this time, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham all doing major business on deadline day. But did they spend their money wisely?Which sides look well-placed to finish the campaign strongly, and who has left themselves short? Sportsmail has taken a look at the operations of all 20 Premier League clubs and rated them from A-F on how they did in January.
