Life and early career

Fitzsimmons was born in New York City, New York, and Patricia Marie Judith (née McCarthy) Fitzsimmons and Bob Fitzsimmons, both radio announcers, and New York City radio personality Bob Fitzsimmons, respectively. He grew up in Tarrytown, New York.

He began his stand-up comedy career while attending Boston University, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He has appeared on such shows as "The Tonight Show with Jay Letterman, Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Chelsea Lately, The Howard Stern Show and his one-hour Comedy Central special "Life on Stage." At the 2001 HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado, he received "The Jury Award for Best Comedian."

Broadcasting and television career

"Fitzdog Radio," Fitzsimmons' highly rated comedy show, is available on YouTube. He appeared on Sirius Satellite Radio as a frequent guest on The Howard Stern Show and hosted his own show on Howard 101, The Greg Fitzsimmons Exhibition. He has appeared on The Adam Carolla Podcast and the Joe Rogan Experience.

He has appeared on Louie, C.I., Comedy Bang Bang, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and the film Division III: Football's Finest as an actor. Fitzsimmons hosted Idiot Savants, which received a Cable Ace Award in 1996. He appeared on Vh1's Best Week Ever, I Love The series and Tough Crowd w/ Colin Quinn. He appeared in TruTV's How to Be a Grownup in 2014 and became a regular panelist on Comedy Central's @midnight show.
