Grandmaster Flash Life

Joseph Saddler (born January 1, 1958), also known by his stage name Grandmaster Flash, is an American hip hop recording artist and DJ.

He is considered one of the pioneers of hip hop DJing, cutting, scratching, and mixing.

In 2007, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, becoming the first hip hop act to be lauded.

He received the Polar Music Prize in 2019.

Early life, family and education

From Barbados, Saddler's family migrated to the United States. He was born in the Bronx, New York City, where he attended Samuel Gompers High School, a public vocational school. He learned how to restore electronics equipment there. Saddler's parents were instrumental in his music discovery. His father, who was a huge fan of Caribbean and African American American music, was a fan of Caribbean and African American recordings.

Joseph Saddler was captivated by his father's record collection as a child. "My father was a huge record collector," he recalled in an interview. I used to open his closets and just keep track of all the documents he had. I used to be banned for accessing his documents, but now I'd go right back and bother them." Saddler's early interest in DJing stemmed from his father's obsession with his records, as well as his mother's desire for him to learn electronics. After high school, he became involved in the early New York DJ scene, hosting dances thrown up by early legends, like DJ Kool Herc and Disco King Mario.

Sandy Saddler's uncle was a featherweight boxing champion.

Questlove to direct live-action hybrid remake of Disney classic Aristocats

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 27, 2023
Everyone wants to be a cat, including Questlove, who is supposed to be the Aristocats' live-action/hybrid reimagining. Last year, the founding member of The Roots, real name Ahmir Thompson, received the Academy Award for Best Documentary for Summer of Soul. The Aristocats will be the Grammy winner's debut feature film directing debut and he's also a producer, according to Per Deadline. The new film will be based on the 1970 animated film about Duchess, a Persian cat and her kittens, Berlioz, and Toulouse, who are expected to inherit their owner's fortune. The cynical butler intervenes and ships the cats off the coast of England, where they encounter Thomas O'Malley, a charming alley cat.
