Early life

Giada Pamela De Benedetti was born in Rome, Italy, on August 22, 1970, the eldest child of actress Veronica De Laurentiis and her first husband, actor-producer Alex De Benedetti. De Benedetti, a close associate of Giada's maternal grandfather, film director Dino De Laurentiis, was a close associate of his. Giada used to be in the family's kitchen as a child and spent a great deal of time at her grandfather's restaurant, DDL Foodshow. Her parents were married in February 1970 but they were divorced later in life. Giada and her siblings and their parents moved to Southern California, where they adopted their mother's surname after her parents' divorce. De Laurentiis earned her bachelor's degree in sociology after graduating from Marymount High School in Los Angeles.

Silvana Mangano, a British-Italian film actress, was born in England, and her maternal grandmother was English, and her grandmother was British-Italian film star Silvana Mangano. Pamela De Benedetti née Leslie-Jones (1923-1998), her paternal grandmother, Pamela De Benedetti (1923-1998), was also an English person. Sister Eloisa, a makeup artist, and brothers Igor and Dino Alexander II, a Hollywood film editor who died of melanoma in 2003, are among her siblings. Ivan Kavalsky, her stepfather, is a producer.

Personal life

De Laurentiis married Todd Thompson, a fashion designer, on May 25, 2003. Jade Marie De Laurentiis-Thompson, the couple's only child, was born on March 29, 2008. Jade was named after her mother - "Giada" is Italian for "Jade." Although admitting how special having a child has been, she has stated that she does not want to have more children. "I have so many babies: the show, Todd, and Jade," De Laurentiis said of her future. De Laurentiis announced on her website on December 29, 2014 that she and Todd had separated in July and that they had decided not to break it off. On September 3, 2015, the divorce was finalized. Shane Farley, a television actress, has been romantically involved with her since November 2015.

Career

De Laurentiis aspired to be a pastry chef at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. She became a celebrity chef in several Los Angeles restaurants, including the Wolfgang Puck-owned Spago, after returning to the United States, including the Wolfgang Puck-owned Spago. She then worked as a food stylist and was contacted by the Food Network after styling a piece in the 2002 Food & Wine magazine.

Everyday Italian, the Food Network's daytime cooking competition, premiered on April 5, 2003. She said she never wanted to be in her "family business" of show business and felt uncomfortable in front of the camera when she first began hosting Everyday Italian. When the show first premiered, the Food Network received a letter accusing the network of using a model or actress pretending to cook instead of a real chef.

In October 2005, De Laurentiis began hosting Behind the Bash. The report examines the catering process behind major event extravaganzas such as the Grammy Awards. Giada's Weekend Getaways, De Laurentiis-hosted show, debuted on Food Network in January 2007. De Laurentiis goes to a well-known destination (including Seattle, South Beach, San Francisco, Napa, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming) and visits her favorite local culinary destinations on this tour. In 2008, De Laurentiis and the Barilla Group formed an Italian gourmet line under the Academia Barilla brand, Barilla's first-ever gourmet celebrity product line. In season 7 of Food Network Stars, she partnered fellow chef Bobby Flay as a judge and took on a new challenge as a team leader of five cooks competing against Bobby Flay's and Alton Brown's respective teams.

De Laurentiis, a character on the animated children's show Handy Manny, became the voice of "Paulette" in 2009. De Laurentiis first launched a line of kitchen products in early 2010, exclusively for Target. CafeMom ranked her as #6 on their annual "Sexiest Moms Alive" list in the same year. De Laurentiis became a regular contributor to the finalists of the popular Food Network competition show The Next Food Network Star in June 2010.

De Laurentiis opened GIADA, De Laurentiis' first restaurant, inside The Cromwell in Las Vegas, Nevada, in July 2014. The restaurant can be enjoyed in the dining room, lounge, or outside patio with views of the Bellagio fountains and Caesars Palace. The GIADA menu features Italian cuisine with Californian influences, including "lemon spaghetti, chicken cacciatore, marsala herb chicken meatballs, rosemary focaccia, and lemon flatbread, and vegetable Bolognese rigatoni." As well as an antipasto station, family-style, vegan, and gluten-free options are also available. From the open kitchen, restaurant diners can see chefs prepare food.

In the US version of the Tinker Bell special Pixie Hollow Bake Off in 2014, De Laurentiis voiced Gelata.

De Laurentiis appeared in the film Scooby-Doo in 2018. The Gourmet Ghost and the Gourmet Ghost are two of the Gourmet Ghost's.

Giada Entertains, De Laurentiis' Food Network series, received the Outstanding Culinary Series award on June 26, 2020. De Laurentiis received the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Culinary Host on July 26, 2020.

In 2021, De Laurentiis appeared in a new Hyundai Motor Company television commercial ad to advertise the Hyundai Tucson.

De Laurentiis has a range of Target-exclusive products. Her products include stainless steel pots and pans, a vast range of utensils, baking equipment, and some food items, such as sauces and pastas.

On the Las Vegas strip, De Laurentiis has two restaurants. In May 2014, she opened her first restaurant. The restaurant, simply named "Giada," is located in Cromwell. In early 2018, she opened a second restaurant. A fast casual dining restaurant called "Pronto by Giada" has taken up residency in Caesars Palace.

She revealed in July 2017 that she would also open a restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland, just north of Washington, D.C. It's called GDL Italian by Giada and it opened in May 2018.
