Tyler Florence (born March 3, 1971) is a chef and television host of several Food Network shows.

In 1991, he graduated from the College of Culinary Arts on the campus of Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, South Carolina.

He was later named a university honorary doctorate for his culinary accomplishments.

He is the owner and executive chef of Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco.

Personal life

In 2006, Florence married Tolan Clark. Florence has three children.

Florence and his wife moved from New York City to Mill Valley, north of San Francisco, where Florence opened an eponymously named grocery store in July 2008.

Florence, a presenter on Globe Trekker, hosted Food 911 and How to Boil Water, co-hosted Worst Cooks in America with Anne Burrell, now hosts Tyler's Ultimate, The Great Food Truck Race, and Bite Club on the Food Network, Florence was a host on Globe Trekker, hosted Food 911 and How to Boil Water, and currently hosts The Great Food Truck Race on HBO. Florence appeared on Worst Cooks in America for seasons 6, 8, 12-13, and 15. In addition, Florence and fellow chef Joey Altman co-hosted a celebrity chef cook-off to benefit Afterschool Alliance.

He appeared on ABC TV show Shaq's Big Challenge, as well as Mama's Boys, a reality show produced by Ryan Seacrest, outside of his duties as host. He has also appeared in a nationwide Sandwich Showdown on the Oprah Winfrey Showdown. He has appeared on The Today Show numerous times and was on The View in 2008. Florence is a member of the Afterschool Alliance, a national non-profit group that works to promote and sustain quality after-school programs.

Uncrushable, Florence's film about the 2017 California wildfires, was released in 2018. It features a first-person video of first responders and interviews with people directly affected by the disaster.

In addition, Florence created Wolf It Down, where he interviewed many experts in the food and technology industry.

Florence began as a chef at Restaurant 147 on West 15th Street, New York, in 1997. He began planning to open Bar Florence in the Hotel Vertigo in San Francisco, California, in 2008. He began a small chain of luxury kitchen supply stores in northern California in 2009 and created four new restaurant concepts for the area: Wayfare Tavern in downtown San Francisco (formerly Rubicon restaurant); Rotisserie & Wine (closed), a fast food restaurant in downtown San Francisco; with Sammy Hagar, El Paseo (closed), an American tavern with ingredients only from Marin County; and Miller & Lux, a San Francisco luxury steak house with ingredients exclusively from Marin County;

Florence was appointed Dean of Culinary Education at Copia, a now-defunct museum in Napa, California, in 2008.
