Roberto Jnior "Gatito" Fernández Torres (born 29 March 1988) is a Paraguayan footballer who plays for Brazilian club Botafogo. Gatito (Spanish: little cat) is his uncle, and he's nicknamed Gatito (English: cat) for being the son of former Paraguayan 1986 World Cup goalkeeper Roberto Fernández.
Gatito had lived in Brazil before his professional days because of his father, who was goalkeepers of brazilian teams, including Internacional and Palmeiras.
Career
Fernández began his work with Paraguayan Prime Minister Cerro Porteo in 2007. In the 2009 Apertura, he became the Paraguayan champion with the team. Following his success, he joined Estudiantes de La Plata, Argentina's Primera División. He joined Racing after a season with no first team appearance.
In August 2011, Utrecht reported to have signed Fernández on loan for one year to cover Michel Vorm's eventual departure.
Fernandéz signed with Botafogo on a free transfer on November 26, 2016, extending his two-year deal until December 2018.
After good results in the 2017 Copa Libertadores and 2018 Campeonato Carioca, Botafogo's contract with Fernandéz has been renewed until December 2021.
International career
In the 2007 South American Youth Championship, he made his debut with the Paraguayan U20 national team, replacing injured Blas Hermosilla. He was chosen for the 2011 Copa América squad in Paragua. He was an unutilizated replacement for the team as they finished the tournament as the runner-up.
