Eugene Manlove Rhodes (January 19, 1869 – June 27, 1934) was an American writer dubbed the "cowboy chronicler."
He was born in south central New Mexico when the first cattle ranching and cowboys arrived; when he and his wife moved to New York in 1899, he wrote stories about the American West, which defined the image of cowboy life in that period.
In 1926, he returned to New Mexico and began to write books.
He was inducted into the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum's Hall of Great Westerners in 1958.
