Booth Tarkington Life

* Newton Booth Tarkington (July 29, 1869 – May 19, 1946) was an American novelist and dramatist best known for his books The Magnificent Ambersons and Alice Adams. He is one of only three novelists to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction more than once, as well as William Faulkner and John Updike. * Although he is little read now, he was deemed America's best living author in the 1910s and 1920s. * Many of his stories were turned into film. * He served in the Indiana House of Representatives for one term and wrote many of his stories in the Midwest. He was eventually relocated to Kennebunkport, Maine, where he continued his life work even as he suffered with a loss of vision.
