Ernst Enno (8 June) [O.S.] 28 May [in Valguta] 1875 – 7 March 1934 in Haapsalu) was an Estonian poet and writer.

Life

Ernst Enno was born in Köödsa inn as the son of Valguta Manor's coachman Prits Enno. He spent his childhood on a Soosaar farm near Rngu. He attended the parish school in Lakool and later the prestigious Hugo Trefner Gymnasium and Secondary School (Reaalkool) in Tartu at the age of eight. Enno worked in business administration from 1896 to 1904 at Riga Polytechnic Institute. He served as a journalist during his time in Riga. Enno worked as a general counsel at the credit union in Valga and a Pärnu trading firm. He was editor of the newspaper Postimees in Tartu from 1902 to 1925, and of various publications. In addition,, he was employed as a training officer in Lääne County from 1920 to 1934. Enno married Elfriede Olga Saul in 1909 (died 1974 in exile in England).
