El Chojin Career

Career

In the hentai anime Urotsukidji, El Chojin borrows his name from the Overfiend. He was a member of the WFN crew ("Wild for the Night") during his first stint of his rap career, and named after a Rampage/Busta Rhymes song of the same name. He was a member of the 995 group, and they released four albums in association with them.

As a solo artist, he has released twelve LPs as of 2013, including Cuando Hay Obstáculos... and Jamás Intentes Negarlo (the initials of those two titles spells out C.H.I.N.). Chojin returned to a demo, Rap por placer, which is also available as a free download.

When his eighth LP 8jin was released in early 2005, he was the first to be inducted. The paper explores topics such as professionalism in rap and violence against women. The album cover was chosen from among nearly 400 submissions from a competition run by the rapper through his website.

Striptease, an album on which he "bares" his soul, was released in 2007. It is a joint effort between various designers, veteran and new, and it includes instrumentation such as guitars, harmonicas, pianos, and a gospel chorus. He released A.n rap por placer, a follow-up to his previous demo, which featured six solo tracks and one with Duo Kie. It could also be downloaded for free like its predecessor.

He released Cosas Que Pasan, que no pasan y que deberan pasar, Alive (Things That Happen, Don't Happen, and What Happens), a 30-track collection of contributors, including Locus From Duo Kie, comedian El Gran Wyoming, singer Luis Eduardo Aute, and others.

Chojin is best known for his lyrics' social commentary, with his solo album Mi turno being his most "modern" work. He avoids coarse words in his music, and his raps also praise nonviolence, anti-racism, and alerts of the dangers of heroin and alcohol. The discrimination against and general mistreatment of migrants is one of the main topics on most albums. Despite the fact that he was born and raised in Spain, he is still an immigrant, but he is acutely aware of the difficulties that refugees face. He has suffered such discrimination due to the color of his skin, as shown in his songs "Yo no soy de esos," "Mami, el rabioso," and "Cara sucia." He is also known for his album "Lola," which promotes condom use in a Barcelona contraceptive awareness campaign. Amnesty International used one of his songs ("Put Yourself in My Skin") campaign, another attempt to raise concerns regarding immigrant rights, this time, and Amnesty International used "El final del cuento de hadas") for a campaign against gender-based violence in the wake of the emergence of 8jin.

Chojin has written poetry and other books in addition to lyrics. He wrote and performed in El alma de Alexander Oboe (The Soul of Alexander Oboe), a Casa de los Pueblos play that premiered at the Festival Madrid Surge and continued to tour various theatres in Spain in 2007. While preparing for his debut of his first book, 98 rimas y 7 Legends, he has collaborated on film soundtracks, including Tánger, and produced what he describes as "the first rap opera in Spanish," namely Rimas para todos los pblicos (Rhymes for All Audiences).

El Chojin has been on Noticias 2 every Wednesday, performing a rap summarizing the week's events since January 28th.

El Chojin appeared on Telecinco on December 23, 2008, in an attempt to smash Rebel XD's record, but he was unable to rap more than 852 syllables in less than 42.2 seconds. El Chojin did, on the other hand, record his own separate album from Rebel XD, where he took 1 minute to rap 921 syllables, which came out to 15 syllables per second on his song titled "Vo-ca-li-za." Rebel XD rapped 20 syllables per second.

No one beat the 852 syllables in 42 seconds, or the 921 in 60 seconds, as of January 2015, except Outsider, whose attempt to surpass El Chojin by 2 syllables per second, but was refused because he rapped in Korean.
