Duane Brown Career

High school career

Brown was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, and earned a degree in football, basketball, and track. He was a member of Fontel Mines. He had a 15-point average and 12 rebounds per game in basketball. He participated in the throwing competitions, staying on target. In the 2003 Group AAA outdoor shot put tournament, he came in 4th place. In the shot put and 44.68 meters (146.6 ft) in the discus throw, he had top-throws of 17.32 meters (56.8 ft) at the top of the field.

Brown was regarded as a three-star tight end candidate by Rivals.com with only 250 pounds (113 kg) coming out of high school.

College career

Brown went to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, where he competed for Frank Beamer's Hokies after graduating from high school. He redshirted in 2003 as a true freshman, then participated in all thirteen games and gained his first collegiate pass against the Western Michigan Broncos, which resulted in a touchdown. In 2005, he went from tight end to offensive tackle, where he started every game and played in 673 offensive snaps during the regular season.

Brown, a junior in 2006, received second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference recognition and was named State Offensive Lineman/End of the Year by the Richmond Touchdown Club. Brown switched to left offensive tackle in 2007 and received second-team All-ACC distinctions and Offensive Lineman/End of the Year by the Richmond Touchdown Club for the second year in a row.

Professional career

In the first round (26th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft, Brown was chosen by the Houston Texans. After Eugene Chung in 1992, he was the second Virginia Tech offensive lineman to be drafted in the first round of an NFL Draft. Brown started all sixteen games as a rookie in 2008 and became the first Texans rookie lineman to start every game since Chester Pitts in 2002. Brown shielded the blind side of Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub's career, who led the NFL with 4,770 passing yards and 388 points in 2009 and helped the offense smash franchise records with 6,129 total yards and 388 points.

Brown began playing twelve games in the 2010 season, allowing 6.5 firings and zero holding penalties.

Brown was on the USA Today All-Pro Team in 2011 and was named second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press, but not allowing a single dismissal or violating a holding penalty.

Brown and the Texans reached an agreement on a six-year, $53.4 million contract extension on August 16, 2012, with $22.08 million guaranteed. Brown was in his first year of his rookie deal; the contract was due to begin in 2012 at the end of the 2012 season. Brown was chosen as a first-team pick on the 2012 Pro Bowl and will play in the 2013 Pro Bowl for the first time in 2012.

During the first quarter of a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on January 3, 2016, Brown tore his quadriceps tendon. This injury required surgery, but he was able to return for the 2016 season. Brown suffered with a knee injury during the 2016 offseason and missed the first four games of 2016 before returning in Week 5 and starting the final 12 games.

Even though Brown had two years left on the deal, he did not attend the Texans' mandatory minicamp as part of a push for a new deal. Since not turning up for the start of training camp on July 25, 2017, the Texans placed Brown on the reserve/did not report list. Brown returned to the team on October 23, after missing the first six games.

Brown was traded to the Seattle Seahawks for cornerback Jeremy Lane and two draft picks on October 30, 2017 (a 2018 fifth round and a 2019 second round). Lane had failed his physical and would not be a member of the trade the following day; rather, the Seahawks would send a third-rounder in 2018 (Martinas Rankin) and a second-rounder in 2019 in exchange for Brown and a 2018 fifth round pick. Brown was signed to the 2018 Pro Bowl on January 23, 2018, over Philadelphia Eagles tackle Lane Johnson.

Brown signed a three-year, $36.5 million contract extension with the Seahawks on July 28, 2018, keeping him under control until the 2021 season. In his last season with the team, he was named second-team All-Pro for the 2018 season and then named to the 2021 Pro Bowl.

Brown agreed to a two-year, $22 million contract with the New York Jets on August 15, 2022. After suffering a knee injury and was put on injured reserve, he was signed in order to replace Mekhi Becton. After injuring his shoulder in practice, he was placed on injured reserve on September 10, 2022. On October 8, he was activated.

Aaron Rodgers, the former quarterback of the New York Jets, has a 'pretty low' degree of worry regarding the offensive lines' struggles this preseason

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 17, 2023
Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets quarterback, told reporters that he was not worried about the team's preseason struggles on the offensive line and that his fear was actually 'pretty low.' In addition to being the recipient of six sacks and numerous pressures during Wednesday's joint workout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Jets are also dealing with multiple injuries to projected starters along the oline. Both starting guards Laken Tomlinson and Alijah Vera-Tucker are recovering from an injury, and projected starting left tackle Duane Brown is also on the medical unable to function list as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

Mock Draft by DailyMail: Our analysts expect how the first round of the NFL Draft will turn out

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 24, 2023
It's just days away that the fortunes and futures of the league's 32 franchises will be changed in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. This round, only 31 picks would be made, as the Miami Dolphins were forced to forfeit their pick due to being found guilty of tampering. With a lot of talent to choose from, several franchises are expected to change their fortune in future seasons with the picks made - with multiple NFL-ready quarterbacks, effective offensive blockers, and deadly defensive arms on sale alongside elite receivers.

Despite Joe Flacco's Week 1 struggles against the Baltimore Ravens, the New York Jets will keep him

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 14, 2022
Since Joe Flacco's first-week struggles, the Jets will not make a quarterback change for Week 2, retaining him as the starter and keeping Zach Wilson out due to injury. Flacco, a 37-year-old quarterback in his 15th NFL season, passed for 307 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens, but it took him a whopping 59 attempts to get there and he also throws a pick. The Jets will lose the game 24-9 after struggling to properly compete with Baltimore and scoring their lone touchdown in the game's final minute.
