Dounia Batma Life

Dounia Batma was born and raised in Hay Mohammadi, Morocco's Ain Sebaa-Hay Mohammedi district.

Hamid Batma's father performed with various bands, including Mesnawa and Nass El Ghiwane, and her uncle, Laarbi Batma, is the head of Moroccan fusion group Nass El Ghiwane, who is also known as "Africa's Rolling Stones" by Martin Scorsese.

She studied tourism after high school but didn't have a desire to pursue a musical career.

She participated in a Moroccan musical competition called Studio 2M, which was broadcast on 2M TV in the Oriental category at the age of 18, inspired by her already-famous older cousin Khansa Batma (Laarbi Batma's daughter).

She performed many songs from both Moroccan and Middle-Eastern repertoires and reached the semi-finals.

Even if she didn't make it to the final, she did manage to debut a single "Aalash Tgheeb" (Why are you hiding?) In Moroccan Arabic, which wasn't particularly popular, it wasn't really flourishing.

However, she realized that she would have to go deeper to get the career she aspired for, and Arab Idol was a great way to get to the Arab World's heart.
