Samira Said (born Samira Bensad on January 10, 1958) is a Moroccan pop singer who also holds Egyptian citizenship.

Personal life

Said was married to Egyptian musician Hany Mehanna from 1988 to 1994. She married businessman Mustafa Naboulsy, with whom she had her only son, Shady.

Said has stated in several interviews that she intends to return to Morocco and stay close to her family and relatives.

Samira Said was born in Rabat, Morocco, to a father from Rabat and a mother from Fez. At the age of nine, she performed her first original song "I love noodles" and was discovered on Mawaheb's radio, which was broadcast on Moroccan television. She then moved to Egypt, where her Arab world fame began. She has dual nationality in Morocco and Egypt, her resident home, as she moved to Cairo in 1977. All her albums are in Egyptian Arabic, but she has performed several songs in Moroccan Arabic, such as "Kifash Tlakina" ("I've Met"), "They Stole Him"), "They Stole Him"), and "Al Beharra" ("Mariners." "Maghlouba" ("Beaten") and "Wa'ady" ("My Love") were among her singles. She represented Morocco in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980, performing a hit song in Egypt at the time called Bitaqat Hub, placing 18th out of the 19 contestants.

Said has had several Arabic hits that were highly ranked in Egypt, including "Ben Lef" ("The Circle of Life"), "Mayi Sadati" ("Reading When You Are"), "Mayi Sadati" ("Read When You Are"), "Maye" ("Last Love"), and "Last Love"), among others. She worked with Egyptian composer Mohamed El Mougi and appeared in the film Saketob Ismak Ala Arrimal ("I Will Write Your Name in the Sand"), which included her singing "Yadamiiti Haddi" ("Tears, Fall from My Eyes" ("Understand She Fells). "Lilet El Ouns" ("A Cut about the Rest"), "Ech Gab Gab Gab" ("A Cut About the Rest"), "I Don't Get You"), "A Cut About the Rest"), "I Don't Get You"), and "For No Reason" are among the other recordings.

She performed "Lilah Habeebee," the album title track, which went on to win for the best video in the Arab world in 2001 at the Cairo Arabic Music Festival, in 2000. Said received a World Music Award in 2003 based on worldwide sales figures for that year. With her album Youm Wara Youm, she received the BBC award for best artist in the Middle East. She has won more than 40 awards.
