Diane Birch (born January 24, 1983) is an American singer-songwriter.

Early life

Birch was born in Michigan. At the age of seven she began studying piano using the Suzuki method. While growing up she listened to opera, classical and church music. Birch's father was a Seventh-day Adventist missionary in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Sydney, Australia, and as a result Birch spent her early years abroad. When she was ten, her family returned to the United States, and settled in Portland, Oregon. Birch attended Portland Adventist Elementary School and later, Portland Adventist Academy.

Career

Birch went to Los Angeles to compose music for films early in her career, but she ended up playing piano at the Beverly Hills Hotel and L'Orangerie. During this time, Prince Victoria appeared at the Polo Lounge in 2006 and invited her to join him at his home for a music session with his band. Birch later moved to London, where she signed a publishing deal and wrote the majority of the songs on her debut album.

She migrated to New York City in 2007 after signing with Steve Greenberg's S-Curve Records. Bible Belt, Birch's debut album, was released on S-Curve in 2009 and received rave reviews in Rolling Stone, Paper Magazine, and the Huffington Post.

Birch performed on several television appearances to promote her album Bible Belt in 2009, including: The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Sunday's House Birch, On Sunday, she performed several of her songs from Bible Belt, including: On June 14, 2009, Birch performed many of her songs from Bible Belt to celebrate her album Bible Belt.

In October 2009, her song "Rise Up" was the Starbucks iTunes Pick of the Week, and her song "Valentino" appeared in the movie Valentine's Day.

Birch was the opening act for Stevie Wonder at the "Hard Rock Calling Festival" in Hyde Park and Nîmes, France, with Nick Jonas and the administration as the administration's first act. On Amazon and iTunes, Birch released single track "Gee Whiz It's Christmas" in September. In December Birch's EP titled The Velveteen Age, in which she performs covers of songs she loved growing up.

In 2013, she appeared in English rapper Devlin's album "Rewind," singing a chorus based on her original version from Bible Belt.

Birch also plays guitar and the violin in addition to keyboards.

Speak a Little Louder, her second album, was released in the United States and the United Kingdom on October 15, 2013.

In January 31, 2016, Birch's first self-produced mini-album, Nous, was released. The EP was recorded in Berlin, Germany.
