David Walsh Life

David Joseph Walsh, born 17 June 1955) is an Irish sports reporter and chief sports writer for The Sunday Times.

He is a four-time Irish Sportswriter of the Year and a three-time UK Sportswriter of the Year.

Walsh was the primary journalist in uncovering Lance Armstrong's and the US Postal Service Cycling Team's doping program, resulting in a lifetime ban from riding bikes for Armstrong and the loss of his seven Tour titles.

Career

Walsh began his work as a cub reporter on Leitrim Observer, where he rose to become editor at 25 years old. In 1984, he moved to Dublin, Ireland, to cover cycling in Paris. He then left in 1987 to work for the Sunday Tribune before being moved to the rival Sunday Independent four years later. Walsh joined The Sunday Times in Ireland in 1996 and began reporting about doping in professional cycling right after moving to England in 1998.

Walsh was the ghost writer for cricketer Kevin Pietersen's autobiography, which was published in October 2014.
