David Giuntoli (born June 18, 1980) is an American actor.

In the NBC supernatural drama Grimm, he is best known for his lead role.

He co-starred in 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and Buddymoon, a Michael Bay film.

Early life

Giuntoli was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Mary and David Giuntoli. His father is of Italian descent, while his mother is of Polish and German descent. He was born in Huntleigh, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. Giuntoli, who admitted to not being a boy, said "I was like three feet shorter than I am now until I was a sophomore in high school." According to him, his head has remained the same. "I was an awkward little fellow." I started gravitating a little toward acting in high school. He attended Indiana University Bloomington in 1998, receiving a bachelor's degree in International Business and Finance.

After college, Giuntoli returned to St. Louis. Oricum, his heart was in being an entertainer rather than a career in finance, something his family discovered early on as he loved making people laugh from a young age. He began taking acting lessons in local communities, reconnecting with his high school drama coach.

Personal life

Cara Zavaleta, Giuntoli's coworker on Road Rules, was dated.

He rode his bike to Grimm's setting. Giuntoli visited an elephant orphanage in Kenya during a 2012 break in production, adopting one of the animals.

Bitsie Tulloch, Giuntoli's Grimm co-star, was born in June 2017. They revealed their first child, Vivian, who was born in February 2019. The family migrated to Washington State in January 2020 to be closer to family and their jobs in Vancouver.

Career

In 2003, he was discovered by talent scouts for MTV and cast in the network's reality show Road Rules for the South Pacific season. The three-month adventure in the South Pacific, as well as a subsequent appearance on Real World/Road Rules Challenge's seventh season, offered the opportunity to pay off his college debt and solidified his commitment to being a full-time actor.

In 2007, he moved to Los Angeles to continue working on an acting career. Before joining the Echo Theater Company, Chris Fields studied under director and acting coach Chris Fields. A long line of guest appearances on various television shows and television movies has been followed, including Nip/Tuck, Veronica Mars, Grey's Anatomy, Ghost Whisperer, Privileged, Without a Trace, and Cold Case among others. Giuntoli was also considered for the title role in the relaunched Superman film Man of Steel, but Henry Cavill beat him out eventually.

The series Grimm, which premiered in October 2011 and ran for six seasons and 123 episodes until March 31, 2017, is his most popular TV show to date. Nick Burkhardt, a Grimm detective who hunts animals, was the lead role. Giuntoli appeared in the motion picture Caroline and Jackie in 2012 in a supporting role in addition to his Grimm work. In 13 Hours directed by Michael Bay, he played Scott Wickland, the DS agent. He appeared in the comedy film Buddymoon in 2016.

He is currently stars in ABC's A Million Little Things, which premiered in September 2018.
