Brandon Miller, a rookie and former University of Alabama footballer, was one of three individuals named in a federal wrongful death lawsuit. Jamea Jonae Harris, the family of Jamea Jonae Harris, who died on January 15 of this year at the age of 23 years old, was charged in the Northern District of Alabama's Western Division. Michael Davis and ex-Alabama basketball player Darius Miles were among the other men named in the lawsuit in addition to Miller.

Brandon Miller, a former NBA player and former Alabama footballer, has denied there will be any charges linked to a deadly January 15 shooting near the Tuscaloosa campus, nor does he think the shooting will affect his chances in Thursday's draft in Brooklyn. When police determined that Miller gave a handgun to teammate Darius Miles, which was eventually used by another man, Michael Lynn Davis, to kill the woman, the 20-year-old reigning SEC Player of the Year was traced to her death earlier this year. Though Miles and Davis are currently in jail on capital murder charges, Miller has not been charged in the lawsuit. His lawyer claims he never handled the gun nor was aware that it would take place. The 20-year-old initially declined to talk about the shooting ('That's one thing I can't talk about here), but went on to say that he does not want to be charged.
