Personal life

Lauren Elizabeth Jackson, whose nicknames include "Loz," "Jacko" and "LJ"), was born in Albury, New South Wales, on Monday, May 11th, 1981, the oldest of two children of Gary Jackson and his wife Maree Bennie. Both her parents competed for Australia's national basketball teams, while Jackson inherited her height from both parents. Gary, her father, played for the Boomers in 1975, while Maree, her 6ft 2in mother, competed for the Opals from 1974 to 1982. Bennie competed in two World Championships and the women's basketball team at Louisiana State in the 1980s, wore the number 15, the number Jackson wears in her mother's honour. Bennie was one of the first Australian women to participate in the American collegiate system, where she was known for her brash style of play and was dubbed "the assassin." When Lauren and her brother were young, they continued to play basketball on a local basis, and her family had a basketball court in their backyard when Jackson was growing up. Her grandfather played for the Western Suburbs Magpies.

Jackson grew up in Albury, where she attended Murray High School. She obtained her Higher School Certificate in Canberra while studying with the Australian Institute of Sport. Jackson obtained a psychology degree at Lomonosov Moscow State University and then moved to America by correspondence. In 2007, she was enrolled in a university course in company administration.

She was attending Macquarie University in Sydney in 2010. Her coursework was based on cultural studies, and included topics such as women's rights and racial discrimination. Injuries have barred her from attending college until 2010, but she was back to college in 2012, and her ambitions have included becoming a United Nations diplomat. She has also considered becoming a feminist advocate. Jackson was inspired by a book about the Rwandan Genocide, and she's now an ambassador for a charity that aims to support the abused women of that war. Jackson was still looking for a Bachelor of Gender and Diversity at the University of Canberra by 2015, largely through distance learning.

Jackson was involved in other sports as a youth. She was active in athletics at school and played tennis, but she stopped playing tennis because of competitions that refused to accommodate her ability to play basketball. In the same way, she competed on her school netball team until the age of 14, but she had to leave due to basketball commitments. Jackson trains by pumping weights during the off-season.

Jackson, who stands at 5' 5 in), is 195 cm (6 ft 5 in) tall. She was 5 feet (5.9 in) tall when she was 15 years old by the time she turned 16, and she was still tall by that time.

Harry Gray, Jackson's first child, was born in 2017. In 2018, she had her second child.
