Dana Brunetti Career

Career

Brunetti was hired as his executive assistant just short of meeting each other in 1997. Brunetti appeared in many film series, including American Beauty (1999) and The Shipping News (2001).

Brunetti converted Spacey's TriggerStreet.com, originally a static homepage for Trigger Street Productions, into a platform for young filmmakers in 2001. Other members encouraged users to submit screenplays and short films for review. In 2002, TriggerStreet.com was relaunched as a pioneering social media portal, hosting member profiles, giving member ratings of submitted works and interactive forums. TriggerStreet's website has steadily gained followers, earning the accolade of being one of the top 50 best websites of 2004 by Time magazine. In 2015, TriggerStreet Labs was launched and extended to include short story submissions.

Brunetti began working as a motion picture photographer right after the launch of the new TriggerStreet.com.

Brunetti co-produced Uncle Frank and America Rebuilds: A Year At Ground Zero by TriggerStreet in 2002. Hackers Wanted, the company's early film slate, was also included in the company's controversial unveiled documentary Hackers Wanted.

Brunetti was promoted from President of TriggerStreet Productions in 2004.

Brunetti's first film development work was as co-producer for Beyond the Sea (2004). This was his first full film credit, according to Mini's First Time. Later, he made The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang (2006). Bernard and Doris were also named Emmy-nominated by the Emmy Award-nominated Bernard and Doris.

Brunetti, a Star Wars fanatic himself, is a fan of the Star Wars comedy Fanboys. The Weinstein Company produced the film, which was originally scheduled for release on August 17, 2007. However, the film's final cut was postponed until February 9, 2009. In an interview with KCRW's The Business Podcast and in The New York Times, Brunetti addressed the film's struggles with the Weinstein Company.

Brunetti's first major success was for 21 (2008), a film based on Ben Mezrich's best-selling book Bringing Down the House. The film, which was funded at $35 million, eventually grossed to nearly $158 million around the world.

Brunetti introduced Shrink and Casino Jack later this year.

Brunetti collaborated with Mezrich in early 2009 on an adaptation of the book The Accidental Billionaires, which was turned into the critically acclaimed film, The Social Network. Aaron Sorkin, a writer and director who worked with David Fincher, told the tale of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook's founding.com.

Mezrich wrote a book about the founding of Facebook, but not all. He was having trouble finding Eduardo Saverin. Brunetti held a screening in Boston of the movie based Mezrich's first book, allowing Saverin to attend the screening. The three of them spent time at the party after the screening discussing Mezrich's work. Saverin and his colleagues were reunited with Brunetti and Mezrich after a later screening of the film in Las Vegas. Brunetti made sure Kevin Spacey appeared at the premiere and afterparty as well as ensure that their Facebook-related venture had all the energy it needed.

Mezrich's 14-page plan resulted in the death of a film that became The Social Network, which was sold to Sony.

In 2011, The Social Network was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Music (Original Score), Actor in a Leading Role, Cinematography, Directing, Sound Mixing, and Writing (Adapted Screenplay). On KCRW's The Business Podcast, Brunetti talked about The Social Network.

Brunetti confessed to finding "dates" for Saverin in his attempts to get the latter's collaboration on the film in 2016.

Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks and directed by Paul Greengrass, earned him his second career Academy Award nomination. Brunetti and Michael DeLuca reunited in 2015 to produce the Focus Features' Fifty Shades of Grey film version. Brunetti slammed the Producers Guild of America for initially not giving him a producer's award. Fifty Shades Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, marks the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey. Brunetti was later recognized after winning a decision on appeal. He called it a win. He was also cast on the third film, Fifty Shades Freed.

In January 2016, Relativity Media, which was just emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, had purchased Trigger Street Productions and Kevin Spacey would become chairman of Relativity Studios, although Brunetti will be the studio's president. Brunetti said in a tweet. "I'm looking forward to the possibilities that being inside a studio system will open."

Spacey had opted out of taking the chairmanship of the studios, according to the court records, and Brunetti had left Relativity by the end of 2016, although both Executive Producers on House of Cards and Manhunt: Unabomber remained Executive Producers.

Brunetti and former Relativity Media Executive Keegan Rosenberger co-founded Cavalry Media, a Los Angeles-based media firm. The acquisition, design, and production of premium feature films and scripted television series for international audiences is Cavalry's key interest.
