Career

Kirkwood was born in Los Angeles, California. He made his acting debut in a Levi's commercial after being recruited by his aunt, Amy Sobo, as a casting director. In 1993, he appeared in the NBC Saturday morning sitcom Running the Halls, which lasted for one season, after enrolling in high-school drama classes. He went on to be a guest on My So-Called Life, Family Matters, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Sister, The Burning Zone, The Steve Harvey Show, Beyond Belief: Truth or Fiction, Mercy Point, Nikki, JAG, It's All Relative and Courting Alex.

Kirkwood co-starred in the television series Deepwater Black, which ended after one season.

Jerry "Rev" Harris in the 2000 Disney film Remember the Titans was Kirkwood's most well-known role to date. Kirkwood co-starred in Why Do Fools Die in Love and Tahj Mowry of the Disney Channel Original Movie Hounded (Nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor - Comedy or Musical). He appeared in Slash, Dead Above Ground, Cats and Mice, Rain and Calendar Girls. He has appeared in theater for plays including Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, and Big River.

Kirkwood graduated from Loyola Law School in 2008 and now works as a California criminal defense prosecutor after passing the California Bar Examination.
