Costas Mandylor (born Konstantinos Theodopoulos, 3 September 1965) is an Australian actor. He is best known for his appearances in Picket Fences as Kenny and as the Saw film's director Mark Hoffman.
Early life
Mandylor was born in Melbourne, the son of Greek immigrants from the Peloponnese region. Mandylor produced a play on his mother's maiden name, quoting his real name in Greek as being too long. He grew up in St Kilda and South Melbourne. In 1987, he moved to the United States, where he began taking acting lessons. He was initially unable to find any jobs as a result of his training and was forced to work any available jobs.
Personal life
Before suffering shin splints, the mandylor played competitive football/soccer in Europe. People named him as one of the world's "50 Most Beautiful People."
Mandylor married Talisa Soto in May 1997; the couple divorced in 2000.
Career
Mandylor's first big role was in 1989' Triumph of the Spirit, a British Jew film shot at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. He reconnected to Los Angeles meeting director Oliver Stone and auditioned for the role of an Italian count in The Doors (1991). Mandylor played a key role in Mobsters' portrayal of Mafia boss Frank Costello. "It's surprising that I got that part because I felt tuned in to gangsters, it was a subject I'd read a lot," he said in the Los Angeles Times. When I was 13 years old, I worked as a dishwasher in a Melbourne nightclub and saw everything, real gangsters, and people from an underground culture. Picket Fences, playing officer Kenny Lacos, was one of the CBS television drama's leading actors until the show's cancellation in 1996. Detective Mark Hoffman played a lead role in the Saw films as well.
