Connie Sellecca (born Concetta Sellecchia May 25, 1955) is an American actress, producer, and former actress, best known for her appearances on the television show Flying High, The Greatest American Hero and Hotel, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama in 1987.
Early life
Sellecca was born Concetta Sellecchia in The Bronx, New York, to Italian parents Primo Sellecchia and Marianna Sellecchia, who were married from 1952 to Primo's death in 1987. She moved to Pomona, Rockland County, New York, at the age of 12, and attended Pomona Junior High School. She first became interested in the performing arts when attending Ramapo High School in Spring Valley. Despite attending Boston College, she decided to pursue a career in acting.
Personal life
Sellecca and Howard Platt met in 1978, when they appeared together on the television show Flying High; the couple got engaged and then moved in together as the show's filming schedule cancelled the original December 1978 wedding date. Before any new wedding date could have been scheduled, the marriage was irreversibly broken. Sellecca was married to actress Gil Gerard in the 1980s; they now have a son, Gib. On April 4, 1992, she married pianist and then-Entertainment Tonight host John Tesh. Prima is their one daughter. Sellecca is a Christian, like Tesh.
Career
Sellecca began working as a fashion model before making her acting debut in 1978's The Bermuda Depths. Flying High, a short-lived CBS comedy-drama film about three airline flight attendants' misdeeds from 1978 to 1979. She appeared in Captain America II: Death Too Soon, a television film starring Reb Brown, and She's Dressed to Kill alongside Jessica Walter in 1979. She appeared in Beyond Westworld, another short-lived series.
Sellecca appeared in The Greatest American Hero, which starred William Katt and Robert Culp, from 1981 to 1983. After Hero ended, she was released from her role as time to audition for the part of promotions manager Christine Francis on another ABC television drama Hotel, which starred James Brolin. She appeared in the series from 1983 to 1988. In 1987, she was nominated for Best Actress – Television Series Drama for her appearance. She appeared in the high-rated miniseries Brotherhood of the Rose in 1989.
