Coleen Sexton (born February 5, 1979, in Westfield, New Jersey) is an American stage actress who made her Broadway debut at age 20 in Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse's Jekyll & Hyde in 2000.

She portrayed the starring role of Lucy Harris in the Broadway production, as an understudy from 1999, and took over the role from Luba Mason in January 2000.

She can be seen on the DVD of the show starring Andrea Rivette as Emma Carew and David Hasselhoff in the title role.

Before making her debut in Jekyll and Hyde Coleen was a singer/performer in a Germany based band called 5NY.

Theatre career

Sexton is best known for her role as Lucy Harris in the Broadway version of Jekyll & Hyde, where she was the last actress to appear in the role. Except for the original Robert Cuccioli, Sexton was the only actress to play Lucy in any Jekyll/Hyde. Sebastian Bach (from January to June '00), and the show's final actor, David Hasselhoff (from October to January '01) when she took over the role. In addition, Joseph Mahowald served as the alternate until October '00, when the show's original alternate Rob Evan returned to the arena for its final months. Camera crews joined the show in December 2000 to film the film, live from the audience, starring Sexton, Andrea Rivette, and Hasselhoff, who donated the money. In early 2001, it appeared on HBO several times, and it was released in September 2001. Since being re-released in November 2006, it hasn't appeared on television since 2003. Sexton has also performed for the Broadway National touring company of Chicago from 2004 to 2005.

On the first North American tour of Wicked, Sexton was the standby for Elphaba. She began working on the tour from January 3 to October 28, 2007, portraying lead actress Victoria Matlock's absence. On January 17, she appeared in Providence for the first time since she had to replace Matlock mid-show.

Sexton also appeared in the national tour of Legally Blonde and the Lady of the Lake in Spamalot from July 30, 2011.

Dusty Springfield, a British singer, appeared on the New York stage in the Off-Broadway musical Forever Dusty in 2012. Dusty Springfield's boss, "Becky Brixton," and later "Gini," a drug and alcohol advisor, appear in dual roles. Dusty Springfield's lead role was also understudied by Sexton. On February 4, 2013, she appeared in Springfield for the first time.

Sexton joined "Dear Evan Hansen" as a standby for Heidi Hansen, as well as fellow Jekyll & Hyde alum Christiane Noll. Sexton, the principal actor in Heidi Hansen's role, is in 2022.
