Christopher "Big Black" Boykin (January 13, 1972 – May 9, 2017) was an American television personality and singer best known for his role on MTV's MTV reality television series Rob & Big, in which he co-starred with professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek from 2006 to 2008.
Early life
Boykin was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 13, 1972, and grew up in Raleigh, Mississippi. In 1990, he graduated from Stone High School in Wiggins, Mississippi, and spent time in the United States Navy.
Television career
Rob Dyrdek, a professional skateboarder, recruited Boykin to be his bodyguard and shield him from security guards, as part of a skit for DC Shoes. He and Dyrdek appeared in the reality television series Rob & Big from November 2006 to April 2008 on MTV.
Rob & Big, Dyrdek and Boykin's episode in 2006 visited EA Black Box in Vancouver to do motion capture for a video game in which they were to be characters. In 2007, Skate became a hit on the internet. Boykin and Dyrdek were also included in Skate 2, the 2009 sequel to Boykini and Dyrdek. Big Black, Boykin's clothing company, began selling T-shirts and hats that bore his interest in 2007. Boykin also set two Guinness world records, one for peeling and eating three bananas in a minute and the other for eating five powdered doughnuts in two minutes, 45 seconds, during the show's 2008 season. Since starting a family, Boykin joined Rob & Big in the third season. Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory premiered in February 2009, less than a year after Rob & Big's final episode. Boykin appeared on the show in 2011 and then stayed until the show's final episode in 2015. He appeared on three episodes of Dyrdek's show Ridiculousness, which premiered in 2011.
