Christopher Antony Gray (born 11 July 1960 in Haddington, East Lothian) is a retired Scottish international rugby player who played the majority of his club rugby in England.
He gained 22 caps for Scotland's national rugby union team, with five appearances at the 1991 Rugby World Cup.
He is licensed as a dentist.
Personal life
In 1991, Gray married Nottingham RFC physiotherapist Judith Bunten. They have two sons, James Christopher Gray (b. ), and Thomas Gray (b. ). Nicholas Andrew Gray (b. 91), who was invited to play for the Scottish Exiles under 19s side in the spring of 2010, and Nicholas Andrew Gray (b. 1995. Club career
Gray was out for Edinburgh Academical between 1978 and 1983. He played for Nottingham R.F.C. from 1983 to 1997, scoring 60 points before retiring. In 1989, he replaced England and British Lions hooker Brian Moore as club captain.
He made his first appearance for the Scottish Exiles provincial side before it was equalled by Richard Cramb in 1992.
International career
Gray made his Scotland debut against Wales in the 23-7 Five Nations victory over Murrayfield on January 21, 1989, and was part of the Scotland team that defeated Wales in the 1990 Five Nations Championships for the first time. In the 13-6 World Cup third-place play-off loss against New Zealand at Cardiff Arms Park on October 30, 1991, he played his last international in the 13-6 World Cup third-place play-off loss against New Zealand.
Dental career
Gray graduated from Edinburgh Dental School in 1983 and went to Nottingham to work as a dentist. Throughout his playing career, he served as a dentist. He is now the director of Wollaton Dental Care in Nottingham.
