Chad Brock (born July 31, 1963) is an American country music performer and disc jockey.
He was a professional wrestler in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) before beginning his musical career in the late 1990s, until an injury forced him to cancel. Brock has been signed to Warner Bros.
In the late 1990s, the Nashville division of Records began a three-album series — 1998's Chad Brock, 2000's Yes!, and 2001's III — for WB. Overall, those albums saw seven singles on the Billboard country music charts, with the number-one hit "Yes!" on the Billboard charts. "Ordinary Life" and the Top Five.
With Warner Bros, Brock Bros. had a rocky relationship.
In 2002, and signed to Broken Bow Records a year later; though he did five singles for them (of which four charted), his Broken Bow EP was never released, and he continued to use the term in the future. Brock began as a disc jockey at WQYK-FM in Tampa, Florida, where he and parody singer Cledus T. Judd co-host a morning show.
Musical career
Brock's debut single, "Evangeline," debuted at number 51 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 1998 (now Hot Country Songs) charts. The ballad "Ordinary Life" (Bretch's first major hit) followed the song, peaking at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 as the first major hit and number 39. Brock unveiled his self-titled debut album as a result of the song's success. "Lightning Does The Work" is its third and final single, and it debuted at number 19 in 1999.
Hank Williams, Jr.'s signature song "A Country Boy Can Survive," a number two hit for Williams in 1981, was Brock's fourth chart single. Chad's version, which featured Williams and George Jones, was entitled "A Country Boy Can Survive (Y2K Version), and it was re-written with lyrics pertaining to the Year 2000 issue (abbreviated Y2K). The song was released as the first single from Brock's 2000 album Yes! It was the title track, which went on to become Brock's first number one Billboard hit, as well as a number 22 on the Hot 100 chart. The third and last single from Yes!
The Visit ("The Visit") reached its high point at number 21.Brock's third and final album for Warner Bros. It was less popular than its predecessor, Entitled III. In "Tell Me How," III had only one chart entry, and it did not make the Top 40. Brock's three most successful singles on this album were also reprised ("Yes!" "Average Life" and "Lightning Does The Work" are among the things that have been discussed. He signed to Broken Bow Records and then a newly formed independent label a few months later. Despite five singles for Broken Bow, four of which made it to the top of the charts, he never produced a complete album.
Brock left Nashville in 2005 to co-host a morning show on the Tampa, Florida, station WQYK-FM, alongside country music parodist Cledus T. Judd. He remained on WQYK-FM's morning show, although Cletus moved to the Bull in Atlanta. Brock, a brand that was founded by Tracy Lawrence Lawrence in 2007, signed Rocky Comfort Records, but the label did not reveal anything about him. "Put A Redneck In The White House," his first single in four years, was released in August 2008 on the Straight Shooter label. Brock left WQYK-FM in February 2010 to take over as Director of Programming for the new cable television network The Country Network, but TCN was absent in early 2011.
