Cecilia Bartoli Life

Cecilia Bartoli of Cavaliere OMRI (Italian: [tilja baibartoli] [born 4 June 1966] is an Italian coloratura mezzo-soprano opera singer and recitalist. She is best known for her interpretations of Bellini, Handel, Mozart, Rossini, and Vivaldi, as well as her performances of lesser-known Baroque and Classical music. She is best known for her appearances in both soprano and mezzo roles.

Bartoli is known as a coloratura mezzo-soprano with a peculiar timbre. "She was absolutely developed sumptuousness of the lower register, the vibrancy of the middle range, and the top was limpid and robust," Nicholas Wroe wrote in 2001.

Early life

Bartoli was born in Rome and was inspired by the Romans. Silvana Bazzoni and Pietro Angelo Bartoli's parents, along with her daughter, were professional musicians and gave her their first music lessons. In Tosca, she appeared publicly at age nine as the shepherd boy. Bartoli later studied at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. She made her singing debut on Italian television show Fantastico at the age of 19. She did not win the competition, but she was invited to perform with the Paris Opera for Maria Callas' homage concert.

Cecilia Bartoli Career

Career

Bartoli made her professional opera debut at the Arena di Verona in 1987. She continued to play Rosina in Rossini's The Barber of Seville at the Cologne Opera, the Schwetzingen Festival, and the Zurich Opera all received rave reviews. Bartoli concentrated on Mozart roles, including Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Dorabella in Cos fan tutte, and then expanded internationally.

In 1990, she appeared in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro as Cherubino and her debut at the Hamburg State Opera as Idamantes in Mozart's Idomeneo, followed by her debut as an Isolier in Le comte Ory, solidifying her name as one of the world's top Rossini singers.

Bartoli appeared in Cos fan tutte in 1996 and then returned to La Cenerentola in 1998 to perform Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro. Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, another Mozart soprano role, appeared at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2000. In 2001, she made her long-awaited Royal Opera House debut, playing Euridice and Genio in Haydn's L'anima del filosofo's London stage premiere.

Bartoli has spent a substantial amount of her career recording and recording Baroque and early Classical era music by composers such as Gluck, Vivaldi, Haydn, and Salieri, in comparison to Mozart and Rossini. In early 2005, she sang Cleopatra in Handel's Giulio Cesare. Il Giardino Armonico, a Baroque group, is a favorite performer.

Bartoli unveiled Mission in 2012, which premiered Agostino Steffani's less well-known Baroque composer's work. Bartoli also released the composer's CD version as well as an extended music video depicting her as the priest-composer Agostino in Versallies' palace. The film is known for its historical and visual authenticity of the Baroque period. Cecilia Bartoli's appearance and film of Mission reflect Steffani's time period, including the setting, wardrobe, and cinematography.

Bartoli devoted her time in 2007/08 to researching and recording the early 19th-century repertoire, especially Italian Romanticism and bel canto, as well as legendary singer Maria Malibran, whose birth was commemorated in March 2008. Maria was released in September 2007. Bartoli performed in a revival of Fromental Halévy's 1828 opera Clari at the Zurich Opera in May 2008. In a concert at the Konzerthaus Dortmund in June 2010, she appeared in Bellini's Norma for the first time with conductor Thomas Hengelbrock. Bartoli toured five Australian cities in March 2011 with two programs drawn from Sacrificium and Maria.

Bartoli became the artistic director of the Salzburg Whitsun Festival in 2012, an extension of the traditional Salzburg Festival, which also performs during Whitsun (Pentecost) weekend. She reformed the festival's lineup, abandoning the academic program of her predecessors and attracting outstanding artists, resulting in record ticket sales and a new opera calendar. In 2012, she appeared in Handel's Giulio Cesare, and in 2014 Rossini's La Cenerentola.

Bartoli lives in Zollikon, Switzerland, with her husband, Swiss baritone Oliver Widmer, on the Goldcoast shore of Lake Zurich, Switzerland, and the Rome, part of the year. After 12 years together, the two married in 2011. Bartoli lived in Monaco in the early 2010s.
