Caroline Mohr Sunshine (born September 5, 1995) is an American actress, dancer, actor, and lobbyist, who is currently working for Trump as a White House press assistant. Early life
Caroline Sunshine was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 5, 1995, to parents Thom and Karen Sunshine. Johnny and Christopher are two younger siblings who were raised in Orange County, California. Sunshine began studying ballet at the age of 3 and gained her first lead role in a kindergarten production. She then began performing with the Orange County Children's Theatre and dancing competitively with the South Coast Performing Arts studio in Tustin, California.
Personal life
Sunshine began dating Matt Stumme in 2013; the pair went to high school and college together. Sunshine is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, and Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, California.
Career
Sunshine began in 2004 with Annie Warbucks at the Orange County Children's Theatre, The Nutcracker at the Academy of Dance and South Coast Performing Arts, and Stage Door at the Lutheran High School of Orange County. Sunshine began attending professional auditions at the age of 11, and she earned her first role in a commercial for Amazing Allysen the talking doll, as well as commercial projects for Yoplait Go-Gurt and Cap'n Crunch. Sunshine co-starred as the teen daughter of a high school coach portrayed by Rob Riggle in her first pilot for CBS sitcom Team Spitz in 2010. Barbara Winslow played Barbara Winslow in her first feature film, Marmaduke, which was based on the comic strip of the same name.
Sunshine earned what would be her most well-known role on the Disney Channel original series Shake It Up, as her flamboyant twin brother, Gunther Hessenheffer, alongside Kenton Duty. Gunther and Tinka's glitzy brother/sister pair is said to be influenced by Disney's High School Musical franchise's Ryan and Sharpay Evans. She was a regular cast member of the first season but was switched to a regular character for the second and third seasons. In November 2013, the series came to an end. Sunshine appeared on the Disney Channel Christmas album Holidays Unwrapped; her cover version of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was included as the tenth song on the album.
Sunshine appeared in the Non-Equity national tour of Bring It On the Musical in 2014. In June 2014, she shot a Freeform pilot called Recovery Road based on Blake Nelson's book of the same name, in which she appears alongside Samantha Logan in a title role. In the real story, however, neither Sunshine nor Logan will appear. Jessica Sula and Sunshine's character was deleted from the script, and Logan was replaced by her. During 2015, Sunshine appeared in a TV film called Gofour Broke as the Tiffani Brand. And she appeared in The Outfield's big screen version years before.
Sunshine became the spokesmodel for the teen fragrance "Puppy Love 4 Girlz" in February 2011. Fragrances "Puppy Love" is dedicated to helping homeless dogs and puppies, with a portion of the proceeds going to local animal shelters. Sunshine became involved in politics as a White House intern during the Trump administration in January 2018, earning a full-time job as a press assistant by mid-March 2018.
