Carmen Finestra (born 1947) is an American writer and television writer who is currently working with Matt Williams and David McFadzean in Wind Dancer Productions, a company that Finestra also co-owns and co-founded with actor Tim Allen. Finestra has produced or executive produced Where the Heart Is, Firelight, Soul Man, Thunder Alley, and his company's most well-known series, Home Improvement, which starred Allen as a feisty home-improvement host and in turn based on Allen's stand-up comedy routines, was located in Wind Dancer, Finestra. Finestra's first break came when he began writing for The Cosby Show in 1984, where he would remain until 1990, leaving the show as a supervising producer. Finestra earned two Emmy nominations as one of the show's creators and another Emmy Award for co-writing an episode of the hit series. * He appeared on The Cosby Show as a guest star (episodes 4.12, 6.2, and 6.14). Finestra served as a writer and co-executive producer for Home Improvement in 1991, until the series's conclusion in 1999. * His work on the sitcom will win him three Emmy and two Golden Globe accolades.
