Cam Dolan Career

Early career

Dolan began playing rugby in high school with the Naples Bears in Florida, although he did spend a brief period in the 1st XV at St Edward's school in Cheltenham before playing college rugby at Life University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dolan competed for Life University in the Collegiate Rugby Championship, and he was elected to the CRC All-Tournament team in 2012 and 2013. Dolan, a four-time first team All-American, went on to win a National Championship in 2013.

Club career

Jim Mallinder, Head Coach of Northampton Saints, who gave Dolan a professional deal with the Saints, observed his results against the Maori in November 2013. Dolan was brought on to assist James Craig after suffering with an injury. Dolan joined Samu Manoa, a fellow American. During the 2013-14 season, Dolan did not make any first team appearances for Northampton. However, he made several appearances for the Saints' sevens team and the Wanderers' second team. Since his good results in preparation, he was granted a one-year contract with Saints for the 2014–15 Premiership season. Dolan made his professional debut for Northampton Saints in the Anglo Welsh Cup on January 31, 2015.

Dolan joined Cardiff Blues in the 2015-16 Pro 12 season after two seasons with Saints.

International career

Dolan made his International debut in 2009, where he was named captain of the United States U20's team for the 2009 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy. He was the recipient of the United States Rugby Foundation Development Grant Recipient, a fund that helps recruit and enhance emerging rugby talent in the United States.

Dolan was crowned in the United States senior side of the 2013 IRB Pacific Nations Cup, the inaugural year for the United States in the tournament, with his efforts on the Under 20s team and his club team. He made his International debut at No. 8 against Fiji as a substitute for captain Todd Clever, who was unable to participate in the game due to injury. He played in Round 3 of the 2015 Rugby World Cup Americas qualifications, resulting in a 2–0 loss and escalating the USA into the NACRA-CONSUR playoff final.

Dolan was named captain of the USA Select XV team in the 2013 Americas Rugby Championship in October 2013. He led the team to two victories against Canada A and Uruguay; he was a mentor. Dolan was selected in the American squad for their 2013 end-of-year rugby union assessments following this Championship. In their first game against the Mori All Blacks, he was named Man of the Match, prompting him to try again at the 71st minute.

Dolan was named the United States Breakout Player of the Year by Rugby Mag at the end of 2013.

Dolan was the first player to start at No. 1 in the United States. When the United States defeated Scotland in 2018, they earned their first-ever victory over a Tier 1 nation, Scotland. Following the United States' victory over Chile in 2023 World Cup qualifying, Dolan became the USA Eagle with the most victories at 30 victories in 59 appearances.
