Bruce Dow (born April 1, 1963 in Seattle, Washington) is an American-Canadian actor best known for his four stage appearances, his Dora Mavor Moore Awards-winning performances at Buddies, the world's largest and longest running LGBTQ theatre, and his appearances on the Rick Mercer Report and Murdoch Mysteries.

Even as Captain Thunderhoof's arch rival, the Bad Bronco, appears on Corn & Peg. He is also a professional stage director, a produced composer/lyricist, and an experienced theatre educator, specializing in Shakespeare and musical theatre, having taught at colleges and universities throughout Canada and the United States, including The National Theatre School of Canada, the Stratford Festival Department of Professional Theatre Education, Sheridan College, and The Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts. In the 2012 Tony-nominated revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, Dow made his Broadway debut in Jane Eyre, Anything Goes, and most recently as King Hero in the Broadway revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, which opened in the Avon Theatre in Stratford, Ontario.

Jesus Christ Superstar appeared at the La Jolla Playhouse and then to Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre in March 2012 for an opening.

Dow's comedic, but also serious, performance attracted acclaim.

With Dow still as Hero, the show came to an end on July 1, 2012. Dow has appeared in Cabaret, directing Amanda Dehnert, the Baker in Into the Woods, and Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, directed by Des McAnuff and later in Washington, D.C. by Alan Paul, known for his critically acclaimed, non-traditional interpretations of well-known roles. In 2011, he appeared in The Tempest as Trinculo, starring Academy Award winner Christopher Plummer.

The performance debuted at the Stratford Festival and Melbar Entertainment later shot it in theaters around the United States and Canada. He received his first Dora Mavor Moore Award in 2013 for his portrayal of pop-fashion icon Leigh Bowery in Of a Monstrous Child: A Gaga Musical, for which he also received the Toronto Theatre Critics Association Award as Best Actor, Musical.

Dow performed in Jane Eyre and appeared in The Music Man, Anything Goes King Hero, and The Messiah, A True Musical Story in London, Ontario. Jesus Christ Superstar descended on the La Jolla Playhouse and then to Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre in March 2012.

Dow has appeared in Cabaret, directed by Amanda Dehnert, the Baker, and Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, directed by Des McAnuff and later in Washington, D.C. by Alan Paul, known for his critically acclaimed, non-traditional interpretations of well-known roles.

Christopher Plummer, the Academy Award Laureate, appeared in The Tempest in 2011. The production debuted at the Stratford Festival and was later shot by Melbar Entertainment and has been seen in theaters around the United States and Canada.

He received his first Dora Mavor Moore Award in 2013 for his portrayal of pop-fashion icon Leigh Bowery in Of a Monstrous Child: A Gaga Musical, for which he also received the Toronto Theatre Critics Association Award as Best Actor, Musical. In 2014, he received his second Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Principal Role Play for Boys, as the star of Tim Luscombe's controversial play PIG for Buddies in Bad Times.

In 2014, he was also nominated for the Helen Hayes Award for Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum by the Tony Award-winning Shakespeare Company in Washington, D.C. Timothy Sweetman appeared in Dr. Silver: A Celebration of Life, a new Canadian musical produced by Outside The March and The Musical Stage Company in Toronto in 2018.

He released his debut CD Lucky to Be Me in 2005. Keepin' Out Of Mischief, his second album, was released in 2008.
