On Monday, Brock Peters, who had only been piloting his licence for four months, was flying his family over San Bernardino for breakfast when he was compelled to make the dramatic emergency landing on El Cajon Boulevard. Despite his grandmother's distracting cries from the back of the cockpit, at an altitude of around 5,500 feet, he was piloting lost power, requiring him to concentrate on bringing the plane down on historic Route 66.
