Acting career

In the 1940s, he began his theatre career by establishing his own "Nejat Uygur Theatre." He toured around the country with his opera. Nejat Uygur made a name for himself in comedy shows like Cibali Karakolu, Kaynanatör, Hastane Mi Kestane Mi?, Dosan's Weijak Téti yo ettimin yeyi, Minti Minti, Canti Mi Kestane Miyan, Mi Migrant Mi Köper, Can m?, Benim Eyini, Tenti mi

He appeared in a number of films, most notable in Cafer Bey, in addition to his theatre appearances. He appeared in Beyaz Melek and Vizontele Tuubaa, his last appearances.

He also appeared in several plays with his sons Süheyl and Behzat.
