Brian Herbert Career

Career

Herbert is best known for his writings (and some sequels) to his father's epic 1965 science fiction book, Dune, which have all been on the New York Times Best Seller list. Prelude to Dune (1999–2001) and Legends of Dune (2002–2004). Hunters of Dune (2006) and Sandworms of Dune (2007), Frank Herbert's first Dune collection, which was incomplete at the end of Frank Herbert's sixth Dune book, Chapterhouse: Dune. These books are based on an outline and notes left behind by Frank Herbert after his death in 1986 for what he referred to as Dune 7, his own planned seventh book in the series. Brian and Anderson began publishing Heroes of Dune, a series of four books set within Frank Herbert's first five books, but only two of them were published. The interprequels were discarded, first for the Great Schools of Dune trilogy (2012-2016), and then for the Caladan trilogy. In addition, Brian and Kevin have written the Dune short stories (2001-2017). In comparison to Frank Herbert's original books, Brian Herbert's Dune novels have received mixed reviews.
