Bok van Blerk (born Louis Andreas Pepler, 30 March 1978) is a South African musician who performs in Afrikaans.
He became well-known in 2006 for his interpretation of "De la Rey" by Sean Else and Johan Vorster, as it may have inspired violent right-wing Afrikaner groups.
Early life and career
Van Blerk went to school at Horskool Die Wilgers in Pretoria. He spent time in Europe after his studies.
Bok van Blerk and the Mossies released the album Jy praat nog steeds my taal in March 2006 (You still speak my language). In October 2006, the same album was rereleased under the name De La Rey and solely credited to Bok van Blerk. Tanya van Graan, the fellow singer on "and the Mossies," was deemed out because he was too busy modelling. Van Blerk is accompanied by Jaco Mans (and occasionally Manie van Niekerk) on lead guitar, Francois Coetzee on bass guitar, and Nathan Smit on the drums.
