Musical career
Peter De la Rosa began developing his musical skills at an early age, and by 13 years old, he formed his first rap group. He began appearing on variety television shows in the Dominican Republic and gained several singing competitions as part of the Alpha y Omega group, which he derives from his stage name. Omega y Su Mambo Violento, the band that debuted on Omega y Su Mambo Violento on the label Allegro Music in 2005, was released later in the year. "Alante Alante" was his album's first hit, and the album was spawned his break out hit. A Casandra Award was named in the Dominican Republic in 2009. Omega first appeared at his first Latin Grammy Awards in 2010 and later performed at Presidente Beer's Festival of Latin Music in 2010. Both performances were vital to his international success. To name a few venues, Omega was able to tour the United States and perform in the Ritz theater in New York City and Elizabeth, New Jersey's Lincoln Armory. Omega's continued success led to his signing by Akon in 2011 via his record label Konvict Musik. Akon has admitted that Omega has aided him in establishing himself in the Dominican market. As can be seen in Omega's 2012 hit, "Merengue Electronico," Akon has also influenced Omega's music leading to Merengue with an Electronic blend.
